Tri-State Ice Management

Tri-State Ice Management was formed in 1995 by Mal Curran and Bob Hauck. Before starting Tri-State, Mal and Bob were managing Quiet Waters Ice Rink and Piney Orchard Ice Rink respectively, and had a combined 10 years of ice rink management experience. The first project the two undertook together was the newly completed Reston Town Center Ice Rink in Reston, VA which they operated for 13 successful years. During that time, they also ran a rink for the Rouse Company in Columbia, MD until the rink was shut down to make room for new construction.

Tri-State is currently the official management company for Pentagon Row Ice Rink in Arlington, VA and the Glen Burnie Town Center Rink in Glen Burnie, MD. Tri-State’s expertise is not limited solely to rink management. They company has performed numerous feasibility studies for projects in Maryland, Virginia, New Jersey, Delaware, and Pennsylvania for a wide array of development projects.

Lance Curran joined the Tri-State Management team in 2001 and has been an integral part in expanding our scope of services. Following the record snowfall in the winter of 2009-10, the roof of the Haymarket, VA ice rink collapsed leaving the future of the Prince William Hockey Club in jeopardy. However, with the help of Tri-State and Lance’s expertise in particular, the ice rink was successfully reconstructed and opened in October 2010.
